Volvo has made its first fleet deliveries of the new XC90 Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) to Fleet Hire Ltd and Woodway Packaging and Office Supplies.
Fleet Hire Ltd1 is an enthusiastic supporter of Volvo products and already has over 100 of its models on lease to clients.
Bob Chamberlain, a founding Director of Fleet Hire says: "I am so impressed by the new XC90 I have just taken delivery of one for myself. I have been to hundreds of new vehicle launches over the years and few have had such an impact on me as the XC90. I first drove one of only six pre-production models in Belgium a year ago and it was immediately obvious the vehicle was something special.
"Apart from the overall look, which is eye-catching, I was impressed by the ride quality and high level of standard specification, particularly the safety features. I knew I would be in the market for a luxury 7-seater and the XC90 offers everything I was looking for. I deferred my final buying decision until I was able to road test a production demonstrator, but that drive confirmed the outstanding build quality of the XC90 and I placed my order immediately."
Part of Bob Chamberlain’s responsibility within Fleet Hire is to calculate residual value levels for all vehicles and he is extremely positive about the XC90 and believes it to be "best in class" for future re-sale value.
The Volvo XC90 SUV also won over a new client for Volvo, Woodway Packaging and Office Supplies2, which took delivery of two new XC90 D5 SEs from Bells Motor Group, Northampton at the end of January 2003.
Jason Inwood, Sales Director of Woodway Packaging and Office Supplies, says: "We have never had a Volvo on our fleet before but when we saw the new XC90 we just had to have one. It is a good looking vehicle, yet it offers impressive levels of safety and comfort, which are particularly important to me as I have a young family, plus I cover around 40,000 business miles a year.
"I use the car to visit existing and potential customers around the UK and find it excellent for carrying samples as I can put the seats down easily to create the required space. I also take my clients out in my vehicle so I feel it is important to drive a car that makes a first-class impression, and the XC90 certainly does that.
"I chose the diesel version of the XC90 because of my high mileage which makes this model the most cost effective in terms of fuel costs and tax."
The new Volvo XC90 has gained significant interest from the fleet market since its launch. With its smart, innovative design, packaging and high specification levels, the Volvo XC90 is the best equipped, most competitive, premium SUV available.
