Prices for the new Volvo V40 will start at £19,745 for the diesel D2 (115hp) Start/Stop ES and will raise to £26,795.00 for the D4 (177hp) Start/Stop SE Lux Nav. You will be able to place your order in May with first orders being delivered in September 2012.
According to Volvo this is the first new model to be fully developed according to its human-centric, Designed Around You strategy, the car is the first in the world to feature a pedestrian airbag, an innovation which helps reduce the severity of pedestrian injuries in the event of an impact. The all-new V40 is also the only model in its class to fit City Safety as standard and offer Pedestrian Detection.
There are five engine options, two petrol and three diesels – on the petrol front there will be a 1596cc T3/T4 unit with either 150 or 180hp with 6-speed manual transmissions.
The first diesel engine is 1560 cc D2 unit which produces 115hp with a 6-speed manual transmission, with (205 tyres) CO2 emissions are 94g/km or 99g/km with 225 tyres. On the combined cycle Volvo are claiming 78.5 mpg.
Then there are the 2.0-litre units D3/D4 with either the choice of 150hp or 177hp – with these engines you can opt for a 6-speed automatic or manual transmission.
The comprehensive standard specification includes City Safety, pedestrian airbag, Bluetooth, high performance audio with 5" colour display screen, ECC (Electronic Climate Control), 16" Matres alloy wheels, DSTC (Dynamic Stability and Traction Control), power windows, a leather steering wheel and gear knob and textile floor mats.Volvo V40 SE- £21,345 - £24,795

The most luxurious version of the Volvo V40 offers leather-faced upholstery, 17" Mannan alloy wheels and LED day running lights as well as active bending xenon lights with a headlight cleaning system.
