The new Volvo S90 and V90 are now available to order priced from £32,555 for the entry level S90 and £34,555 for the V90 estate. The first S90 deliveries are expected in September and the V90 in October 2016.
At launch there will be a choice of two four-cylinder 2.0-litre diesel engines, the front-wheel-drive D4 (190hp/400Nm) and the all-wheel-drive D5 (235hp/480Nm).
There are two trim levels - Momentum and Inscription.
All models are well equipped with entry level Momentum coming with Volvo’s Pilot Assist - which automatically keeps the S90/V90 at a safe distance from the vehicle in front - you set the speed / distance - and it will automatically follow the flow of the traffic in front, it will even keep it in lane at speeds of up to 80 mph - it does not even need to see a car in front to work.
There is City Safety as standard again across the range; it comprises automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, and large-animal detection. Which can help to avoid or reduce the impact of animals such a deer or horses at day/night.
In addition there is the Sensus infotainment system 9” touch screen, satellite navigation (including lifetime annual map updates), with voice-control and access to the internet and a range of cloud-based apps such as TuneIn, Stitcher and Yelp. Plus leather upholstery, LED headlights with active high beam, two-zone climate control with ‘CleanZone’ air-filtration system, keyless engine starting and heated front seats.
The boot lid on the S90 is powered and so is the tailgate on V90.
Moving up to the Inscription and you gain Nappa soft leather upholstery, powered front seats, a 12.3” active TFT driver’s information display (Momentum cars get an 8” version), 18” diamond-cut/silver alloy wheels, keyless entry and handsfree boot/tailgate opening and closing. Additional premium touches include walnut interior inlays, rear footwell and side step illumination, and chrome exterior details.
