Volvo’s new S40 saloon and V50 Sportwagon are the latest models to join ALD Automotive’s PoolFleet.
To-date 100 S40s and V50s have been delivered and they have joined the PoolFleet which already contains V70s. A further 150 Volvos will be supplied during the second half of 2005 to ALD to enable fleet customers to meet a variety of short-term staff motoring requirements.
ALD's rental periods are for a minimum of 28 days, with an average rental of 12-14 weeks. Companies can take advantage of the flexibility of PoolFleet for a variety of circumstances, including: to provide cars for new staff while completing their probationary period; employees temporarily on secondment to a UK-based business; and to meet seasonal demands, as well as for temporary sales staff recruited to launch new products.
In addition, PoolFleet is also used by companies undergoing change or a major fleet review when they may be unable to place new vehicle orders; as a more viable alternative after axing their own pool vehicles; and as a stop-gap measure between the disposal of existing company cars and prior to delivery of new ones.
Volvo sees ALD's PoolFleet as a great opportunity to get company motorists to experience the modern Volvo range, many probably for the first time.
"It’s a great way to promote the Volvo brand and gets drivers behind the wheel of our cars. We have already seen Volvo sales increase to ALD customers since we started this agreement five years ago," explained John Wallace, Volvo Car UK’s leasing and rental manager.
"Volvo’s safety pedigree has also proved very valuable to ALD as it shares a similar high level of commitment to driver safety," he added.
ALD PoolFleet operations manager Adrian Temple said: "It is important that we have premium brand vehicles, such as Volvos, on the PoolFleet because it not only helps our customers to promote the right company image to their clients, but also ensures corporate drivers are delighted with the specification of car and are exposed to the latest models from the manufacturers. The range of Volvos on the fleet, which also includes XC70s, continue to prove very popular with customers.
All cars are run by ALD for six months and then bought back by the supplying Volvo dealer.
