Prices And Specifications For The New Volvo C30 SportsCoupe

Volvo C30 SE Sport

Following the world debut of the new Volvo C30 SportsCoupe at the Paris motor show, Volvo has released full details of UK prices and specifications of its new model, as well as the first pictures of the C30 SE Sport model with full body kit.

With a choice of four trim levels (S, SE, SE Sport and SE Lux), prices for Volvo’s new two door, four seat SportsCoupe range from £14,750 for the 1.6S to £22,995 for the range-topping T5 petrol in either SE Sport or SE Lux trim.

The Volvo C30 has the performance to match its sporty design with no less than eight engines3 to choose from, starting with four-cylinder 1.6 (100PS), 1.8 (125PS) and 2.0-litre (145PS) petrol units and 1.6 (109PS) and 2.0 (136PS) diesels, plus three five-cylinder engines, the 2.4i (170PS) and T5 (220PS) petrol units and D5 (180PS) turbodiesel.

The 220PS T5 performance flagship of the C30 range uses the proven, Volvo designed and manufactured 2.5-litre, five-cylinder petrol engine. The new Volvo C30 range can also offer exceptional fuel economy, with 57.6mpg available from the 1.6D engine on the official combined cycle. The 1.6D also offers the lowest emissions, with 129g/km.

With larger 18in wheels and a full body kit of front and rear spoilers and side sills, the first pictures of the Volvo C30 SE Sport model reveal it looks the closest to the Volvo C30 Design Concept previewed earlier in the year which has already helped generate over 24,000 enquiries for the new model in the UK alone.

The Volvo C30 is also good news for company car drivers with Benefit in Kind taxation² starting at just £640 per annum for the 100PS 1.6 petrol S together with a high standard specification including Electronic Climate Control and alloy wheels as standard.

“The early signs from leasing companies that have seen the car are that residuals will be very strong. This will mean highly competitive contract hire rates against the likes of the Audi A3 and the BMW 1 Series, which should further help the Volvo C30’s presence in the company car market,” explained John Wallace, Volvo Car UK’s corporate sales and leasing manager. “Launching three diesel engines is a clear corporate decision as whatever their budget, there is a C30 that suits their needs,” he added.

Following its world debut at the Paris show, the Volvo C30 will quickly be making its British show debut at the mph show4 next month and will be a star attraction in the show in the main arena.

Thanks to its compact size and short front and rear overhangs, the Volvo C30 will be great to drive - and as it’s a Volvo will, naturally, have best-in-class safety standards. It is available to order now and expected to arrive in showrooms around the turn of the year and with the first customers early in 2007.
