The new Golf received five stars for occupant protection in the front and side impact tests, four stars for child protection as well as three stars for the protection of pedestrians.
No other passenger car tested by Euro NCAP achieved this combination of good results for the requirements in these three fields at once.
The five stars for occupant protection, the maximum rating, was reached by the construction of an extremely rigid passenger compartment and the highly effective restraint systems. The new Golf has been awarded four stars in child protection thanks to the child seat utilizing the ISOfix anchorage points with a supplementary upper belt (top tether).
In the case of an accident with pedestrians, the flexible deformation zones at the front end of the vehicle combined with an energy absorbing interlayer in the bumper of the new Golf considerably reduce the risk of injury.
These results reaffirm Volkswagen's commitment to no compromises on safety. Due to its ease of repair, car insurers give this vehicle one of the most favourable ratings.
