Embarking on a career change after 30 years can be a difficult thing. But it was one which proved successful for Brian Sanders of Doncaster – thanks, in part, to Volkswagen. Having taken voluntary redundancy from the National Coal Board in 1993, he set up his own taxi business, Brian’s Cabs, providing luxury airport transport in a Volkswagen Caravelle.
Over the following eleven years, Brian clocked up a staggering 700,000 miles in his Caravelle, regularly driving passengers to airports in the north of England, Midlands and London. Although he viewed his Caravelle as a faithful and reliable friend, with it only having needed a minimum of repair work, Brian decided the time was right to part company with his taxi and upgrade to the latest Caravelle model.
Returning to the Hayselden Van Centre in Doncaster, where he purchased his original vehicle, Brian was impressed with the improvements made to the Caravelle.
‘I pride myself on providing my passengers with a smooth, safe and comfortable journey,’ said Brian. ‘The latest Caravelle with its additional safety features, more power under the bonnet and increased comfort means my passengers will now be travelling in real style.’
Extremely spacious, the Volkswagen Caravelle is the only MPV that can comfortably carry up to six passengers and their luggage. As well as a choice of one or two side sliding doors, the Caravelle boasts high-grade carpeting, lavishly upholstered seats, manually adjustable air conditioning and reading lamps, tinted windows and sunblinds. And for optimum flexibility all the rear seats and the multi-functional table can be moved along a rail system or removed.
Other features include a range of powerful and economical diesel engines, car-like suspension and handling, plus a high level of standard safety equipment. All seats have three-point belts, there are front, side and curtain airbags, as well as ABS, electronic differential lock (EDL) and a traction control system (TCS).
All this combined with Volkswagen’s proven reliability ensures Brian Sanders’ passengers enjoy a pleasant and safe journey, arriving at their destination refreshed and relaxed.
