Volkswagen Fleet Services has challenged the UK’s leading contract hire and leasing companies to take part in the Volkswagen Fleet Masters Golf Tournament this summer. Few could resist taking up the gauntlet, with all the places at this prestigious event filled within days of the announcement.
The events, which take place on 24 and 28 June at The London Golf Club in Sevenoaks and Carden Park in Cheshire, will feature teams of four which must include at least two customers of the leasing company. Teams will then compete against each other for the title of Volkswagen Fleet Golf Master 2004, and a place in the Volkswagen Masters UK Final.
The Volkswagen Masters is an international golf tournament, and fast becoming one of the most significant events in the amateur golfing calendar. The UK final will be held on 1 September on the Ailsa course at the famous Westin Turnberry resort. The winner of the UK Masters will then go on to compete in the international final in South Africa in November.
Commenting on the tournament, Vincent Kinner, Head of Volkswagen Fleet Services, said: ‘We are delighted to have created this tournament which will allow companies along with their customers to enjoy a great game of golf at some fantastic courses. It also enables us to highlight our luxury models to a highly-discerning audience.’
Volkswagen’s luxury cars, the Phaeton saloon and Touareg 4x4, will be supporting the UK and international events. The Phaeton is one of the most advanced and luxurious cars in the world, with a range of highly refined engines and class-leading technology. The Touareg is designed to deliver class-leading performance both on and off the beaten track.
Like the Phaeton, the Touareg is unique in its sector for featuring the world’s most powerful passenger car diesel engine to date. The 5.0-litre V10 TDI produces an exceptional 553 lbs ft of torque at just 2,000 rpm, resulting in vigorous performance. Confirming its reputation as one of the world’s leading passenger car engines, the 5.0-litre V10 TDI won for the second time its category in the recent International Engine of the Year Awards.
Adding to the trophy cabinet, Volkswagen Fleet Services claimed the Fleet News Manufacturer of the Year award for the fourth time earlier this year.
