The revised Volkswagen Tiguan compact SUV in now on sale, with prices starting at £21,085. With orders starting now, the first deliveries will begin in September 2011.
The new Volkswagen Tiguan is available in the choice of two and four wheel drive, as well as two front end options - one aimed at on road driving with and 18 degree approach angle, while the 'Escape' model is designed for off-road driving, with a 28 degree approach angle.
Exterior revisions include horizontal lines on the front grille, which brings the model inline with the rest of the Volkswagen range. The rear sees new two-part light clusters, which form an 'L' shape.
The Volkswagen Tiguan trim levels include S, SE, Sport and Escape, The entry-level S trim includes 16 inch alloy wheels, Climatic air conditioning, DAB radio and alarm. SE sees 17 inch alloy wheels, 2Zone electronic air conditioning, Park Assist, iPod and Bluetooth preparation plus Fatigue Detection system. Multi function steering wheel, Bluetooth connectivity, chrome plated roof rails, heat insulated and tinted glass from the B-pillar back, sports seats, front fog lights and sports suspension are included in the Sport trim. The Escape model is aimed at customers who require off-road capabilities, with the model including comfort and convenience features, such as Bluetooth and multi-function steering wheel and high level of equipment.
Three petrol and three diesel engine make up the available range for the Volkswagen Tiguan, including a twin-charged 1.4 litre TSI 160PS (up from 150 PS in the previous generation), a 2.0 litre TSI 180 PS and a 2.0 litre TSI 210PS (up from 200 PS). CO2 emissions remain unchanged or improved despite the power increases.
a 2.0 litre TDI 110PS engine emitting 139g/km CO2 emissions is available in two wheel drive. Two diesel engines from the previous generation - 2.0 litre TDI producing 140PS and 170PS. Due to the engines having improved CO2 emissions - the 179PS engine emits 158 g/km and the 140PS unit emits 150g/km (manual) which takes it into the lower VED band.
The 2.0 litre TDI 110PS and 140PS models and the 1.4 litre TSI 160PS with two-wheel drives are specified BlueMotion Technology models, meaning they features Stop/Start and battery regeneration systems improving fuel efficiency and reduce emissions.
For the revised Volkswagen Tiguan, options include Keyless Entry and Start System, RNS 315 satellite navigation, Lane Assist and Light assist, which will automatically switch between main and dipped beam for oncoming traffic.
