Volkswagen Polo BlueMotion (MY-2015)

The Volkswagen Polo BlueMotion TSI Petrol edition has gone on sale priced from £14,730, with the first deliveries expected March 2015.

This is the first-ever petrol Polo BlueMotion and it is powered by a 1.0-litre BlueMotion TSI engine delivering 95PS between 5,000 - 5,500 rpm via its five-speed manual gearbox. There is 118 Nm of torque from 1,500 to 3,500 rpm. This equates to a 0-62 mph time of 10.5 seconds with a top speed of 119 mph. Official NEDC figures record 68.9 mpg on the combined cycle with CO2 emissions of 94 g/km.

The BlueMotion TSI -is based on Polo ‘S’ edition , the BlueMotion variant adds a bespoke styling pack comprising of re-worked bumpers at the front and rear, side skirts and a rear roof spoiler. There are coloured door handles, body coloured door mirrors with integrated indicators, front fog lights and static cornering function and BlueMotion badging.

In addition to the standard kit on the ‘S’ model it gains Buenos Aires’ alloys with low rolling resistance tyres, multifunction leather steering wheel, alarm with remote central locking, air conditioning, a front centre armrest, Composition Media and infotainment system, cruise control and Volkswagen’s Driver Alert System. You also get the Think Blue trainer which tells you how to drive more efficiently whether you like it or not.

As with all Polo models, there is a colour touchscreen interface, SD card reader, DAB radio tuner plus USB and AUX-in connections.

If you would prefer a diesel model, then you can opt for the three-cylinder diesel 1.4-litre TDI BlueMotion engine which outputs 75 PS. According to NEDC data it can achieve 91.1 mpg on the combined fuel cycle with emissions of 82 g/km.
