The first deliveries of the revised Volkswagen Jetta are due next month - it features revisions to the front and rear to improve aerodynamics by up to 10 per cent.
The front features a new radiator grille and a re-profiled bumper, where the rear incorporates an aerodynamically efficient lip, which extends into the wings at the side, a new bumper design and tail lights.
The interior sees new instrumentation, steering wheel and a selection of new trims - with the Jetta GT featuring new ambient lighting.
There are three Jetta trim levels: ‘S’, ‘SE’ and ‘GT’. Core equipment across the range comprises DAB digital radio, ESC electronic stability control, electric windows and air conditioning.
SE trim adds to the list with 16-inch ‘Atlanta’ alloy wheels, lumbar support, Bluetooth telephone connectivity, a leather-trimmed multifunction steering wheel, MDI multi-device interface and cruise control.
Where the GT trim has 15 mm lower sports suspension, 17-inch ‘Lancaster’ alloy wheels, front fog lights, front sports seats, automatic headlights and rain-sensing wipers, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, heat-insulating tinted rear glass, a colour multifunction trip computer, driver alert system and ambient interior lighting
There are optional assistance systems such as Blind Spot Detection with Rear Traffic Alert.
The new engine line-up incorporates BlueMotion Technology including stop/start and all engines are now Euro6 compliant.
There is a choice of two petrol units - a 1.4-litre TSI 125 PS engine with a six-speed manual gearbox and a 1.4-litre TSI 150 PS unit with the choice of either a six-speed manual or seven-speed DSG gearbox. On the diesel front you can choose between a 2.0-litre TDI with 110 PS and a five-speed manual or seven-speed DSG gearbox; and a 2.0-litre TDI with 150 PS and either a six-speed manual or six-speed DSG gearbox.
