Volkswagen Golf Plus

Europcar is the first national rental company to add the new Polo and Golf Plus models to its rental fleet. Europcar has ordered 800 of the recently launched vehicles from Volkswagen.

Commenting on the deal, Nick Berry, Volkswagen’s National Rental Manager said:

‘I am delighted that Europcar has chosen to add the popular new Polo and Golf Plus to its rental fleet. The economical Polo S 1.2-litre 55 PS model in particular is a great choice for rental customers.’

The new Polo went on sale on 10 June and is available with a wide choice of engines and trim levels, in three or five door guise. The range starts with the E 1.2-litre 55 PS three-door, moving up through S and SE specifications, and finishing with the range-topping Sport, which features a choice of powerful petrol and diesel engines including a 1.9-litre TDI 130 PS.

Europcar has taken delivery of 260 Polo’s - largely S and E trim levels. The S model is expected to be the best-selling trim level in the new Polo range, starting at £8,850 RRP on the road this model offers particular value for money. Standard specification includes: Climatic semi-automatic climate control; alloy wheels; electric front windows; electrically heated and adjustable door mirrors; front fog lights; central locking; CD player; plus body-coloured side bump strips, door mirrors and door handles.

On delivery of the new vehicles, Michael McInerney, UK fleet director of Europcar commented: ‘We always like to offer our customers the most up to date products in the market place, and the new Polo and Golf Plus are great products and additions to our fleet.’

Europcar has added a mix of 540 Golf Plus 1.6 S and 1.6 SE models to its rental fleet. The Golf Plus is a new addition to the increasingly popular Golf range, and fits into the Volkswagen line-up between the Golf hatchback and Touran compact MPV.

The Golf Plus is offered in four trim levels - S, SE, Sport and GT TDI/GT FSI - mirroring closely the Golf hatchback range (with the exception of three-door and GTI models). Specifications are also similar with, for example, ESP (Electronic Stabilisation Programme); Climatic semi-automatic climate control; ABS; six airbags; and a CD/radio as standard on every model. The Golf Plus also features LED rear lights as standard, a first for this sector.

The Golf Plus was launched in the UK on 1 June, and prices start at £12,895 RRP on the road for the S 1.4-litre 75 PS.
