The new Volkswagen Golf GTI Cabriolet is now available to order with first deliveries due in July 2012. UK prices start at £29,310 for the standard 6-speed manual and rising to £30,610 for the DSG gearbox.
The Golf GTI Cabriolet is powered by a 2.0 litre 210PS turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine which is capable of 0-62 mph in 7.3 seconds when mated to wither the six-speed manual or six-speed dual clutch DSG gearbox – the top speed is 147 mph (146 DSG).
According to Volkswagen the Golf GTI Cabriolet should achieve a combined fuel consumption figure of 37.2 mpg (36.7 mpg DSG).
The soft top is insulated and electrically powered, it folds away in 9.5 seconds at speeds of up to 18 mph.
The Golf GTI Cabriolet has been awarded a five-star rating for adult occupancy in the Euro NCAP crash test results and has an ABI insurance rating of 35E.
