Volkswagen Golf GTD (2013)

The new Volkswagen Golf GTD is set to go on sale in the UK in April 2013 with the first deliveries expected in the summer. The Golf GTD takes the styling cues of the iconic GTI model and blends it into a more frugal diesel model.

The Golf GTD is powered by a 2.0-litre common rail turbodiesel engine outputting 184 PS / 380 Nm this equates to a 0-62 mph time of 7.5 seconds and a top speed of 142 mph. The official combined fuel figure for the manual car is 67.3 mpg with CO2 emissions of 109 g/km.  With the optional DSG transmission the fuel figure is 60.1 mpg - (three-door: 119 g/km CO2; five-door: 122 g/km CO2).

GTD exterior styling comprises LED rear lights with LED licence plate illumination, along with chrome dual tailpipes, 17-inch alloy wheels with 225/45 tyres, side skirts, a rear diffuser, sports suspension and a large roof spoiler.

The interior includes tartan sports seats, a black roof lining, sports steering wheel, stainless steel pedals, GTD-specific gear lever, trim strips and instrument cluster.

Standard equipment includes the winter pack, ‘Climatronic’ climate control, white ambience lighting, progressive power steering and front and rear parking sensors.

Although on sale in German we currently do not have prices or the full UK specifications for the Golf GTD, which we expect to, have towards the launch date in April.
