The New Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet Now Available

In perfect time for the British summer, the new Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet is now available to order, with prices starting from £20,720.

After a nine year break from the market, the new Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet was first shown at the Geneva Motor Show and joins the range alongside the Volkswagen Eos hard-top convertible. As standard, the new model is fitted with an electrically powered powered fabric roof, which will be lowered in 9.5 seconds whilst moving at a speed of up to 18mph.

Compared to the Eos, the Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet is 20cm shorter, at 4,215mm long and 1,779mm wide. Sharing the same wheelbase as the standard Volkswagen Golf at 2,578, provides space for four passengers with a 50:50 split/folding rear seat.

To ensure the soft-top model remains safe and comfortable, modifications include reinforced window frames as well as structural modifications to the underbody, side panels, cross-members and doors underbody, side panels, cross-members and doors ensure high levels of torsional rigidity.

Standard safety features for the Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet include an active rollover protection system, ABS, ESP and front and side head-thorax airbags.

Three engines are available for the Volkswagen Gold Cabriolet, a a 1.2-litre TSI 105 PS, 1.4-litre TSI 160 PS and a 1.6-litre TDI 105 PS. Later in the year, two diesels and an extra petrol engine will be made available, offering DSG automatic transmissions and BlueMotion Technology for the diesel engines.

Trim levels for the Volkswagen Golf S, SE and GT. The S model sees 16 inch alloy wheels and Bluetooth. The SE includes 2Zone climate control, cruise control, parking sensors and automatic lights, whilst the GT includes sports suspension, Alcantara upholstery and 18 inch alloy wheels.
