51 year old Simon Thomas will, from 1st September 2011, become Managing Director of Volkswagen Group UK. He will replace Robin Woolcock, who is taking on a different role within the Volkswagen Group.
Simon Thomas first started his career in 1984 with Austin Rover Group and enjoyed a number of different roles in sales, service and the fleet business. In 1991, he joined Nissan, and worked in different positions in sales and marketing before becoming Marketing Director for Nissan UK in 2000. He then moved to more senior roles in sales and marketing in Canada and Europe, and then in 2009 was appointed Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing Europe with Nissan.
Robin Woolcock has been employed by Volkswagen Group UK for 23 years, first as Managing Director of MAN-Volkswagen UK before becoming head of Skoda and Volkswagen Passenger Cars in the UK. He was appointed Managing Director of Volkswagen Group UK in 2000. As well as the sustained positioning of the individual Group brands, Woolcock also further reinforced the market leadership of Volkswagen Group UK.
