Current Director of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles in the UK, Simon Elliot, will take the position of Managing Director of Volkswagen Group Ireland in August 2011. He follows on from Paul Willis, who will move to a senior role within the Volkswagen Group in China.

Robin Woolcock, Managing Director of Volkswagen Group UK commented: "This is a great opportunity for Simon and I have every confidence he will take his energy, drive and humour to Ireland and make a superb impact, in the same way he has done here.

"It is obviously disappointing to lose Simon from Commercial Vehicles where he has made a significant difference to the success of the brand over the past three years. I would like to wish Simon success and happiness in his new role, and for his family, as they settle into their new lives in Ireland."

Commenting on his new role, Simon said: "I have really enjoyed the last three years with Commercial Vehicles and am really proud to have achieved record volumes and market share, grown brand awareness and leadership in customer care, and forged a fantastic relationship with everyone in our Van Centre Network.

"I am very flattered to be offered this position, and looking forward to taking on my new role."

Robin Woolcock will take leadership responsibility for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles in the UK until a new Director is appointed.
