The new Toyota Avensis delivers concrete benefits when it comes to ownership costs, too. Thanks to the application of Toyota Optimal Drive technologies, engine performance and efficiency have been significantly improved across the range, giving lower fuel consumption and reduced CO2 emissions – from as low as 134g/km for the TR 2.0 D-4D saloon. This in turn brings reductions in benefit-in-kind taxation and overall running expenses compared to the current Avensis range, giving the Toyota a highly competitive position against rival models such as the Insignia and Mondeo. On a cost-per-mile basis, the new Avensis TR 2.0 D-4D even works out cheaper than Ford’s Mondeo Econetic.

Avensis TR 2.0 D-4D 126 £703 £25,308 -
Ford Mondeo Zetec 1.8 TDCi 125 £781 £28,116 +£2,808
Volkswagen Passat Highline 2.0 TDI 140 £783 £28,224 +£2,916
Vauxhall Insignia SRi 2.0 CDTi 128 £811 £29.196 +£3,888
Ford Mondeo Econetic 1.8 TDCi 125 £762 £27,432 +£2,124
