Improvements across the rest of the range

As well as the standardisation of ABS & EBD, radio/CD players and airbags throughout the range, Suzuki has made a number of other, model-specific changes.

Suzuki’s 1.1 litre Alto, the car that has provided millions throughout the world with practical, low cost, common sense motoring continues to be on special offer at £5,495 On The Road, despite enjoying the addition of a radio/CD player, and ABS and EBD. What’s more, it also gains rear head restraints, new seats and new interior trim for 2004. With a combined fuel consumption of 57.6 mpg, the Alto represents low budget motoring at its best.

In Suzuki’s 4x4 range, the Jimny Estate Mode special edition becomes a standard model, while the Jimny Soft Top specification now includes a leather covered steering wheel and gear knob, silver dials and two tone cloth upholstery.

The Grand Vitara 1.6 16V 3-door SE Estate now features air conditioning, with the manual model priced at £12,795 and the automatic at £13,745 On The Road (ie no increase). The 2.0 litre Direct Injection Turbo Diesel 3 door SE model becomes even more attractive value as a result of a 5 per cent price cut from £14,733 to £13,995 On The Road.

And all 5-door Grand Vitara models now have electrically adjustable, heated door mirrors in addition to their already extensive standard specifications.

These changes across the Suzuki range come on top of the improvements to the Wagon R+ announced in January and the introduction of the all-new Ignis 5-door and Ignis Sport last year. New front end styling, a new 1.3 litre VVT-i engine, ABS with EBD and new interior trim, ensure that the Wagon R+ provides excellent performance, safety and unrivalled interior space for five adults and their luggage.

The all-new 5-door Ignis range launched last September combines the comfort of a passenger car with the practicality of an SUV to create a stylish, spacious and particularly distinctive proposition in the supermini sector, with the choice of two or four-wheel drive.

The Ignis Sport, launched one month later and powered by a 1.5 litre VVT engine, is engineered to provide exhilarating performance at a realistic and particularly competitive introductory offer price of £8,995. It boasts air conditioning, Recaro seats, alloy wheels, a specially designed sports exhaust system, a close ratio 5-speed manual gearbox and sports tuned suspension.
