The popular Suzuki Swift has undergone minor-revisions for 2014, including dropping the 1.3-litre DDiS model and trim up-grades.
Prices start at £10,799 (£8,999 under the current Suzuki VAT free offer) for the 3-door 1.2 SZ2 manual and revisions take immediate affect for new cars.
The diesel model has been dropped which accounted for less than 10 per cent of sales, leaving two petrol engines the 1.2 litre engine Dual VVT (Variable intake and exhaust Valve Timing) unit that produces 94PS / 118Nm. In two-wheel-drive guise this is capable on 56.5 mpg (NEDC figures) and emits 116 g/km. And for the Sport model there is 1.6 litre VVT engine which outputs 136PS / 160Nm. Fuel consumption on the combined cycle is 44.1 mpg and emissions are 147 g/km.
There are four trim levels, SZ2, SZ3, SZ4 and Sport with 1.6-litre engine. All models benefit from seven airbags and ESP as standard, all models expect the Sport have LED DRL (Daytime Running Lights) and front fog lights. A gear shift indicator has now been added to help aid fuel efficiency as well as Tyre Pressure Monitor System (TPMS) for added driver safety.
The Swift SZ2 core equipment comprises electric front windows, remote central door locking with deadlocks, electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors, MP3 / WMA compatible CD tuner with USB port and steering wheel mounted audio controls.
The SZ3 gains air conditioning, 16-inch alloy wheels, integrated audio unit and bluetooth connectivity with music streaming facility.
The SZ4 adds navigation and DAB digital radio tuner, automatic air conditioning, electric rear windows, rear privacy glass (five door models), push button keyless start, automatic headlamps, cruise control and power folding mirrors with integrated turn indicators.
Amethyst Grey Pearl Metallic has now been added (except for Sport models) which totals eight colours in the range - six metallic (£430 option) and two solid - these are: the metallics (Cool White Pearl, Silky Silver, Galactic Grey, Cosmic Black Pearl, Boost Blue, Boost Blue) and the two solids, Bright Red and Superior White.
The Suzuki Swift 4x4 has been available in the UK since mid-2013 and is now available SZ3 or SZ4 trims. The 4x4 is available with the 1.2 litre petrol engine with the manual transmission.
The Swift 4x4 is 65kg heavier than an equivalent 2WD petrol model and emissions are 10g/km higher at 126g/km. Apart from 4x4 badging and a slightly increased body ride height of 25mm the SZ3 grade appears identical to an equivalent SZ3 five door. Where the SZ4 model has a more rugged appearance and offers extra protection over rough ground by adding front and rear skid plates, black wheel arch extensions and black side skirts.
