Suzuki is pleased to announce the early success of its participation in the Government scrappage scheme. More than 2,100 confirmed orders have been taken since launch on 18th May 2009 as car buyers realise that leaving their old car behind and driving away in a new Suzuki Alto can be theirs from just £4,795 - a saving of £2,000 on today's price and £1,850 less than a new Suzuki Alto cost back in June 1999.
Cost of ownership on the Suzuki Alto is also very low as it qualifies for £35 Annual road tax with a combined fuel consumption of 64.2mpg, and enjoys an insurance grouping of just 1E (2E for the top specification SZ4 with manual or optional Automatic transmission). The Suzuki Alto is the cleanest five door City car on sale with emissions of just 103g/km.
However, it's more than just price that matters as new Suzuki's are well equipped for safety and have cleaner emissions than any pre-1999 or even 2006 model. Standard equipment on the Suzuki Alto SZ2 includes four airbags, electric front windows, remote central locking and ISOFIX child seat anchorage points; proving that an inexpensive City car need not be lacking in safety or specification.
Apart from the rapid upturn in Suzuki Alto sales, other models in the range are also proving to be high in demand with a sharp increase in sales of the Suzuki Swift and Suzuki Splash models, available from £6,750 and the Suzuki Jimny compact 4x4 from just £8,490 under the scheme.
An old car can also be used as a substantial deposit for finance with existing 0% APR offers on the Suzuki Swift, Suzuki Splash, Suzuki SX4 and Suzuki Grand Vitara models continuing until the end of June 2009. Taking the Suzuki Swift as an example; just £625 is all that is needed as a down payment for a 1.3 GL, payable over two years; £4,000 discount is available on the Suzuki Grand Vitara 1.9 DDiS five-door and for those considering Personal Contract Purchase (PCP); a Suzuki Alto SZ2 can be driven away for just £89 per month.
David Seward, Director, Sales and Marketing, comments: "The Alto and Splash models had already got off to a very good start in March and now registrations across the whole range are climbing steadily as customers take advantage of the attractive savings on offer in addition to our popular zero per cent finance schemes. Our dealers are reporting greatly increased showroom traffic and some are experiencing a four fold increase in orders."
