Suzuki GB is pleased to announce the appointment of the new Ponthir Road Suzuki franchise dealer in Newport, South Wales, as part of the latest phase in the expansion of the automobiles retail network in the UK by the Japanese manufacturer.
The new Suzuki showroom shares the Ponthir Road premises with the existing Daihatsu franchise, which was established in 2001, a site well-known in the local community thanks to a 50-year presence. Suzuki customers have access to both sales and servicing facilities, thanks to a large seven bay workshop as well as an in-house MOT testing facility.
The new Suzuki retailer has already made an encouraging start to trading with strong demand for the Grand Vitara 4x4 model, bucking the national trend which is seeing a noted decline in the sector. Customers have equally shown a significant level of interest in both the new 1.0-litre Suzuki Splash GLS and Alto models, as motorists increasingly look for cars with higher fuel economy and lower road tax.
As part of Ponthir Road's forthcoming promotional activities, several vehicles from the Suzuki range will be on display from 26 January in Newport city centre, and the dealer will also be holding a free prize draw in conjunction with Newport City Council to win one of the first Suzuki Alto models which go on sale on 01st March 2009. The competition prize winner will be announced on 28th February 2009 at the dealer launch event.
Commenting on the addition of the new outlet, Dale Wyatt, General Manager of Dealer Development, Suzuki GB, explains: "We are delighted to have Ponthir Road Suzuki on board, who join our franchise network at a time when our product range is equally expanding, with the imminent arrival of our fifth global strategic model. Ponthir brings extensive and valuable retail experience to Suzuki which will allow for an increased brand presence in South Wales."
