The new Celerio city car from Suzuki will go on sale in February 2015 with prices yet to be confirmed. It will replace the current Alto going head to head with the likes of the Kia Picanto and Hyundai i10.
It will be powered by a 1.0-litre petrol engine with CO2 emissions 99 g/km and an official combined consumption figure of 65.7 mpg. By the summer of 2015 Suzuki will introduce a new engine with better economy and reduced emissions of 84 g/km. This engine will be available with Auto Gear Shift (AGS) which will feature an Intelligent Shift Control Actuator that operates the gearshift and clutch automatically, it offers better consumption and benefits of an automatic in city driving - it also has a low speed creep function to aid parking without the use of the accelerator.
With a footprint of 3,600 mm long x 1,600 mm wide it promises plenty of space for five, albeit the rear passengers being children and can carry 254 litres of luggage in boot, which is slightly larger than Hyundai i10.
Standard equipment will include six airbags (Driver, passenger, side and curtain), ESP, air conditioning, alloy wheels, DAB Radio, CD Tuner, USB and Bluetooth connectivity. Full specifications and prices will be announced by the end of the year.
