The goal of the SsangYong SUT 1 concept is simple - be the world's best pick-up truck. This evolution of the Actyon Sports has been developed in the spirit of SsangYong Motor's design philosophy of "premium, robust, specialty."
SsangYong Actyon Sports was first rolled out in April 2006, and has since gained popularity around the world -including in Europe, South America and Asia - because of its dynamic design and coupe-like interior styling. As the only sports utility truck from Korea, the 5th-largest auto producing nation in the world, SsangYong Actyon Sports continues to show its global competitiveness.
The SsangYong SUT 1 concept adds a modern style to the original pick-up design. With its spacious interior, sharp lines and cutting-edge lamp detail, this dynamic, robust and trendy sports utility truck is perfect for camping and skiing trips, transportation or driving around town.
Both safety and convenience have been improved by including a variety of convenient features such as a sunroof, Bluetooth audio, rear-view camera, hinge spring type tailgate and a trip computer. Safety features such as ESP and dual airbags are also included. To meet the eco-friendly and high efficiency standards expected by today's auto industry, the car is powered by SsangYong's FR 2.0 Active Diesel engine which satisfies Euro 5 emissions standards, has better fuel efficiency and produces lower CO2 emissions. In rear-wheel-drive form with a manual transmission, it produces only 193 grams of CO2 per kilometre.
With a maximum power of 155 PS and maximum torque of 360 Nm at 1,500-2,800 rpm, its low end torque of 190 Nm is good enough to challenge the best in class.
SsangYong Motor will start production on the SsangYong SUT 1 concept in the second half of 2011 and is expected to roll out around 35,000 cars in Korea and other markets in early 2012.
The SsangYong SUT 1 concept shows SsangYong's identity through its smart and robust design. The headlamp silhouette and bird-wing shaped radiator grille and bumper were designed to give it a stylish look. Its geometric lines, evident in the hexagonal radiator grille and trapezoidal bumper, complete its robust appearance.
In addition to its spacious five-seat interior, the basic utility of the SsangYong SUT 1 concept helps people enjoy their lives, both in the community and through outdoor activities. Off-road tyres have been fitted along with a roll-bar which connects seamlessly to a stylish and large capacity 2m2 deck that can carry extreme sports equipment with ease.
The SsangYong SUT 1 concept further captures the active outdoor image by using a palette of colours that fit in with the great outdoors. This theme is continued with the premium Sports Utility Truck's real wood interior, pointing to its quality and value.
SsangYong's engineering team takes great pride in the development of the FR 2.0 Active Diesel Engine in the SsangYong SUT 1 concept. This eco-friendly diesel engine is available with six-speed manual or six-speed automatic gearboxes and two-wheel or four-wheel drive transmissions. The six-speed automatic transmission has a wide range of gear ratios, providing strong power at low speeds and low engine RPMs at high speeds.
Starting with the ultra-rigid frame, front dual airbags, seatbelt pretensioner and load limiter, and continuing with active rollover protection, the brake assist system of the ESP (Electronic Stability Program), and the ISOFIX system for baby seat stability, driver and passenger safety is our primary consideration.
The perfect harmony of the premium SUV's front double-wishbone suspension and rear five-link suspension makes for ideal driving stability and comfort. The frame is very efficient at dampening vibration and road noise and the tuned engine mounts helps to absorb vibrations while driving or idling. The result is a comfortable driving experience for both driver and passengers.
