The Škoda Fabia product range is expanding with the introduction of a new diesel engine, the 1.4 TDi PD. The 1.4 litre engine has 75 bhp and Škoda’s Pumpe Düse technology, combining great performance with outstanding fuel economy and low carbon emissions.

Pumpe Düse technology provides higher power output and torque in the same TDi engine size, while still achieving excellent fuel economy and low pollutant emissions. In the Fabia 1.4 TDi hatch and estate, CO2 emissions are 124 g/km, placing it in VED Band A and giving it the lowest rating among the Škoda brand. The high injection pressure creates more power and therefore more torque than previous diesels in the Škoda range. In addition, the precision injection enables the engine to achieve excellent fuel consumption 61.4 mpg combined economy in the hatch and the estate.

The maximum performance in this engine is 75 bhp at 4,000 rpm. One of the greatest advantages of the 1.4 TDi is the additional torque: the 1.4 TDi PD delivers 195 Nm at 2,200 rpm - more than the 2.0 litre Fabia. Elasticity is excellent as well, with passing acceleration, from 37-62 mph in fourth gear of 10.1 seconds.

Available in both hatch and estate versions, the new Fabia is presented in Classic and Comfort trim. Classic trim offers a high level of standard equipment, including driver and front passenger airbags; power steering; RDS radio with a single CD player system and fold-flat, split rear seat. Comfort models are also fitted with, electrically heated and adjustable door mirrors, electric front windows and remote central locking.

A wide range of optional equipment is available on both models that includes air conditioning, ABS, EDL and ASR braking and traction systems, electric sunroof and metallic paint.

The new Fabia 1.4 TDi PD is available at Škoda retailers in the UK now and is priced from £9,255 on the road for the Classic hatch. Fabia’s great styling and high levels of standard equipment, combined with the new engine’s peppy driving feel, outstanding fuel economy and low carbon emissions, make the 1.4 TDi a top combination.
