ŠkodaAuto has expanded its retail network with the opening of Marshall Škoda, Ipswich. The new Škoda retailer opened its doors on 8 August 2002, and celebrated with a Czech-themed launch evening on 12 September. The site, located on Ransomes Business Park in Ipswich, opened for trading with the full range of Škoda Superb, Octavia and Fabia models.
The launch evening was a Czech spectacular. Guests were served Bohemian cakes and Budvar and musicians in traditional dress provided a background of classical Czech music. Special guest Radoslav Klepac, Commercial Counsellor at the Embassy of the Czech Republic, presented the star prize of a weekend for two in Prague, donated by Czech Airways.
Retailer Principal Barry Waldron has lots of experience selling Škodas, having sold them for the past seven years. He said, "The evening was a huge success. It gave guests a chance to learn about us, the Škoda brand and also about the country in which it all started. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the evening. We are delighted to be selling Škoda’s and are committed to providing a high level of customer care based on the personal service of which Škoda is proud."
With a newly refurbished showroom, Marshall Škoda is another example of Škoda’s commitment to a straightforward presentation of its products in a contemporary setting. It also shows the increasing commitment that Škoda retailers are making to meet rising customer expectations as the brand continues to grow across the UK.
Marshall Škoda provides a complete range of retail services; new car sales, vehicle servicing, replacement parts, accessories and used vehicle sales are all available at the site. Employing over a dozen people, Marshall Škoda has taken on an additional four staff since joining the Škoda family. Sales are also strong, with 34 vehicles sold this month already.
Marshall Škoda opens at a very exciting time for the brand. With total sales through to the end of August 2002 at 24,958, Škoda sales have increased 11.2 per cent compared to the prior year, against a market that has moved up only 7.3 per cent. The recently launched Superb strengthens the Škoda model line-up and is available for test-drives at Marshall Škoda, along with the rest of the Škoda range.
