SkodaAuto UK has announced the addition of a new baby to the award-winning Fabia family. The popular Fabia is now available with a 1.2 litre, 12-valve, 64bhp HTP (High Torque Power) engine, in both Classic and Comfort trim levels.
The Fabia three-cylinder, 1.2-litre, 12-valve, 64bhp HTP is available to order in both hatch and estate versions. Recommended on-the-road prices start at just £7,695 for the Fabia hatch in Classic trim and £8,745 for the Comfort. This engine is the entry point for the Fabia Estate range, with prices for the Classic and Comfort standing at £8,395 and £9,445 respectively.
The Fabia 1.2 litre HTP engine range is based on advanced technology that results in better engine performance. The high torque that it offers at low engine revolutions, reaching a peak of 112Nm at 3,000 rpm, makes the engine particularly responsive and peppy. The three-cylinder design provides a smooth drive without the need to change gears frequently, especially useful when overtaking.
The engine also produces excellent combined fuel consumption of 47.1 mpg and low CO2 emissions of 144g/km. An innovation of the engine design is its transverse cooling, which provides more uniform cooling and reduces both fuel consumption and the volume of exhaust pollutants. The Fabia 1.2-litre is a particularly quiet engine, due in part to a balancing shaft located in the lower part of the engine block. This produces counter-vibrations that significantly reduce the vibrations from the crankshaft itself. The hydraulic tensioner on chain-driven camshaft also contributes to a quieter engine and longer service life.
The Fabia hatchback equipped with this engine has a maximum speed of 99.4 mph and accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in 15.9 seconds. These reflect the relatively higher kerb weight of the Fabia range. The additional weight, however, contributes to a high degree of passenger safety while maintaining great overall fuel economy.
The 1.2 litre Fabia in Classic trim comes with very high levels of standard equipment, including anti-lock brakes, driver and passenger front passenger airbags, immobiliser, power steering, an RDS radio with four speakers, height and reach adjustable steering wheel and a pollen air filter.
Comfort trim includes all of these items plus remote central locking, body coloured door mirrors, electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors, electric windows, front fog lights and upgraded stereo to name but a few.
Optional equipment on the Classic and Comfort models includes air conditioning, metallic paint and electric sunroof. On Classic models, customers can also order electric windows and central locking.
Like all Škoda models sold in the UK, the Fabia 1.2L, 12-valve, 64bhp hatch and estate comes with Škoda’s two year unlimited mileage manufacturer’s warranty, together with a third year warranty which is valid until the vehicle has completed 60,000 miles or to the end of the third year, whichever is sooner.
For customers looking for a small car that offers excellent value-for-money and is great fun to drive, the Fabia 1.2L, 12V HTP with 64bhp is the perfect choice.
