The new Skoda Rapid was awarded an excellent result in the latest Euro NCAP safety tests.
Overall it scored 5-stars – with an adult occupant rating of 94%, child occupant 80%, pedestrian 69% and safety assist 71%.
This compares to the Ford Focus when tested earlier in the year, which scored an adult occupant rating of 92%, child occupant 82%, pedestrian 72% and safety assist 71%.
The Rapid is the latest car from Skoda, although looking like saloon it is in fact a hatchback, aimed directly at the family market. Although the Rapid is relatively compact it has a large boot, able to carry 550 litres with the seats up and 1,490 with the seats down.
The entry-level petrol-engined 1.2 TSI S costs £12,900, which is competitively priced when compared to its sister car the SEAT Toledo.
