The new four-wheel-drive Skoda Octavia Scout has gone on sale priced from £25,315 for the entry level model, rising to £27,990. The first cars are expected to reach customers in October 2014.
Based on the new Octavia, the second generation Scout features four-wheel-drive utilising a fifth-generation Haldex clutch transmission. It is protected against light off-road damage with plastic cladding package and increased 33mm ride height over the standard Octavia. It promises a 20 per cent reduction in fuel consumption and lower C02 emissions over the previous Scout.
There are two engines in the line-up: a 2.0 TDI 150PS with a six-speed manual gearbox and a 2.0 TDI 184PS featuring a six-speed DSG as standard. The former returns 55.4 mpg on the combined cycle and has CO2 emissions of 129g/km, while the range-topping model returns 55.4 mpg and has CO2 emissions of 134 g/km - according to official NEDC figures.
