The new SEAT Toledo has been awarded 5-stars in the latest Euro NCAP safety ratings.
It scored an adult occupant rating of 94%, child occupant 80%; pedestrian 69% and safety assist 71%.
By comparison the new Ford Focus when tested earlier in 2012, scored an adult occupant rating of 92%, child occupant 82%, pedestrian 72% and safety assist 71% and is the same result as Toledo sister car the Skoda Rapid.
It is reassuring to see that the Toledo performed so well, especially as it is targeted at a family audience. The Toledo may look like a saloon car but is in fact a hatchback, and despite its small footprint can carry 550 litres of luggage with the seats up and 1,490 with the rear seats folded down.
Standard safety equipment across the Toledo range includes Electronic Stability Control (ESC); driver and front passenger airbag; passenger airbag disconnect; front side and curtain airbags; front seatbelt reminders; ISOFIX fixing points with Top Tether.
Prices for the entry-level petrol SEAT Toledo E 1.2 12V 75 PS start at £12,495 rising to £17,840 for the top of the range model SE TDi CR Ecomotive.
