The SEAT Leon ST Estate is the third member of the new Leon range, which comprises five-door hatchback, three-door SC and now the five-door ST estate. It will be launched at the Frankfurt Motorshow in September.
Although prices have yet to be confirmed it should cost around £1000 more than the five-door hatchback which would mean a starting price of around £16,670.
The engine line-up will be the same as the five-door hatchback, ranging from a petrol 1.2-litre unit through to an 184PS 2.0-litre TDI diesel. All models will feature Start/Stop and Energy Recovery technology. Although at 1,233 kg the ST is 45kg heavier than the hatchback, the 150 PS 2.0-litre TDI engine is capable of 68.9 mpg on the official combined cycle.
SEAT Leon ST Estate can carry between 587 litres with the rear seats up and 1,470 litres with them down - the rear seats lower remotely from the rear door. The passenger-seat backrest can be folded over to accommodate especially long items.
Technology will include optional LED Headlights, Adaptive Chassis Control and Adaptive Cruise Control - including the ability to adjust the suspension settings to match the driver's preferences.
Safety equipment includes the option of Multi-Collision Brake, Tiredness Recognition and Lane Assist.
