Renault Wind Makes Its UK Debut At Motorexpo 2004 | Part Two

Joining Modus and Wind will be five other models, two of which are products of the company’s performance arm, Renaultsport (who also made the engine that powered the Renault F1 Team car to victory at the recent Monaco Grand Prix), making their Motorexpo debuts: Mégane Renaultsport 225 and Clio Renaultsport V6 255.

The new Mégane Renaultsport 225 has received considerable critical acclaim in recent months, following in the illustrious treadmarks of its smaller sibling, Clio Renaultsport 182 which is widely regarded as one of the finest hot hatches money can buy. Available as either a three-door Sport Hatch for £19,500, or five-door Hatch for £20,000 on-the-road, its 2-litre turbocharged four cylinder engine develops horizon-shrinking power of 225hp at 5,500rpm, a top speed of 147mph and 0-62mph time of just 6.5 seconds.

Meanwhile, the hard core, mid-engined Clio V6 has been hailed as one of the most ambitious drivers cars ever built by a major car manufacturer. With its 3-litre, 24 valve, V6 powerplant tuned to develop 255 hp, this race-bred, performance hatch eases through the gears to hit 62mph in just 5.8 seconds before blasting onto a top speed of 153mph.

On a slightly less sporting note, completing Renault’s innovative line-up will be the new, Laguna GT, class-leading luxury MPV, Espace, and striking Mégane Coupé-Cabriolet.

Commenting on the decision to exhibit at the South East’s most prominent motor show, Mark Waller, Manager, Brand Communications, Renault UK, said, "Renault is delighted to be exhibiting again at this year’s Motorexpo show, and we look forward to building on the success of previous years with an even more innovative exhibit than usual. With Wind and Modus on show in particular, we hope that our radical designs will delight and inspire both the local residents and Canary Wharf business community in equal measure."

The Renault range will be on display throughout the week-long show in the Cabot Square marquee, with the Wind concept car in the Concept Zone at East Wintergarden.
