Taking radical new design into the mainstream hatchback market for the first time the New Renault Mégane will offer head-turning individual style, technology never before seen in the sector, and high levels of driving pleasure, while rivals in the lower-medium car market will be left reeling by its class-leading equipment levels at class-leading prices.
Prices for the New Mégane start at £10,500 on-the-road, with the best equipped version costing £15,700 on-the-road.
21st Century Technology For The Mass Market
With the totally hands-free Renault Card, New Mégane introduces technology never before seen in a mass market car, making life easier for its owner thanks to automatic unlocking, locking and ignition. Gone are the days of fumbling for a key while laden down with bags or children – New Mégane uses proximity sensors to detect the presence of the Renault Card on the owner’s person, whether in a pocket or handbag, and unlocks the required door once the user touches the door handle. Once inside the user only needs to press the starter button to fire up the engine, again thanks to proximity sensors detecting the presence of the Renault Card.
This second-generation hands-free system compliments the original Renault Card also fitted to some New Méganes – plus all Lagunas and Vel Satis – which contains lock and unlock buttons and has to be inserted into the dashboard before the engine can be started.
Fitted as standard on all top-of-the-range Mégane Privilège and a £250 option on all other Méganes, this is the first car on sale in the UK to have hands-free access and ignition as standard. Mercedes-Benz is the other company to offer this feature – but only as a £950 option.
Other features include automatic headlamps, automatic windscreen wipers, tyre pressure monitoring, integrated F1-style fuel filler cap, ESP with ASR traction control and CSV understeer control, and Xenon headlamps with speed function which varies the height and depth of the beam depending on the speed of the car.
Hatches Will Never Be The Same Again
New Mégane’s dynamic, stylish silhouette, with its powerful, expressive design is now on sale in both three-door Sport Hatch and five-door Hatch versions. Both share the same assertive character, reminiscent of the innovative design of Avantime and Vel Satis.
Standing out as a distinctive product in a segment of mainly look-alike cars, it appeals to the emotions without sacrificing functionality and practicality.
New Mégane is available in four trim levels on the five-door Hatch model – Authentique, Expression, Dynamique and Privilège – and two trim levels on the three-door Sport Hatch – Extreme and Dynamique – reflecting the three-door’s more sporting position. This allows for a reduction of the number of versions – from 40 down to 24 – making selection of the correct model easier.
In addition to the class-leading levels of standard equipment available on each model, Renault offers its customers two ways of choosing options on their New Mégane – either individually, or in four handy packs - Climate, Handling, Comfort and Luxury - that in themselves guarantee to put money back in the buyer’s pocket.
