Renault vehicles fitted with a Carminat TomTom navigation have passed one million. The Dynamique trim level of the Renault Clio, Kangoo, Megane, Scenic, Laguna ranges, plus the core trim levels of the Renault Kangoo, Trafic and Master van ranges come fitted with a TomTom navigation system as standard. The system is offered as a £470 option for most other trim levels.

Renault started work on an integrated navigation system in 1982, with the first road trials of the carminat system launched in 1994, when they became the first carmaker to offer fully fitted navigation systems. In 2002, the systems were upgraded with dynamic route guidance and journey time recalculations.

Navigation took a step forward in terms of driver support in late 2010 with the launch of Carminat TomTom LIVE featuring:

Commenting, Giles Shrimpton, CEO of TomTom Automotive, said: "We are extremely happy to announce that the one millionth Carminat TomTom has been fitted in a Renault vehicle. This figure is tangible proof of the success of our product and our partnership with Renault. Stephen Norman, Senior Vice President, Global Marketing at Renault, said: "One million Renault owners have since 2009 chosen an in-dash Carminat TomTom navigation system. Today, for just £470, this intelligent on-board system brings customers connected services that are highly appreciated and hard to go without once you have experienced their quality."
