Want a car that can cope with the rough stuff every now and then but which won’t drink fuel for fun and require a double garage to accommodate it? Yes, then you’ll be delighted to know that Renault has revised its fun, yet functional Kangoo Trekka models for 2005.
The unique Kangoo Trekka 4x4 is still the only 4x4 multi-use car of its size in its class, and thanks to its permanent four-wheel drive transmission and 200mm ground clearance it can cope admirably with any off-roading without losing any of its on-road abilities. With five seats, a large boot and numerous storage compartments, the Trekka has proven to be the ideal leisure partner for families and the young at heart.
The main changes changes to the new Trekka concern its exterior styling, with the revised version featuring clear ‘teardrop-style’ headlamps in keeping with the car’s modern personality plus blue-tinted body mouldings. Meanwhile, on the inside the 2005 version receives new grey trim.
The two revised Kangoo Trekka models still offer the same level of comprehensive standard equipment as before, including: 15" alloys, 60W radio/CD player, electric front windows and door mirrors, and remote central locking. In line with the rest of the Renault range, the Kangoo is one of the safest cars in its class with its 4-star EuroNCAP safety rating, and also benefits from standard ABS with EBA (emergency brake assistance), plus driver and passenger airbags.
Customers wishing to add to their Kangoo Trekka’s appeal, particularly when they’re in the great outdoors, can choose from a wide range of upmarket options such as air conditioning, electric panoramic sunroof, part leather upholstery, pre-telephone equipment and roof bars.
Summing up the inimitable Kangoo Trekka’s appeal, following a jaunt to the French Alps just a few weeks ago, the Daily Telegraph wrote, "…Who needs a 140mph Range Rover? Why not save your money and avoid the mounting (SUV) public criticism? If I wanted loads of storage space, a commanding seating position and four-wheel drive, I would certainly go for the Kangoo Trekka..."
The new Trekka is available in a range of 8 colours, including the latest addition, ‘Ink Blue’ and 4 other metallics. Prices remain unchanged at £12,595 for the 1.6 16V and £13,595 for the 1.9 dCi 80, while the order book is open now and deliveries expected to start in March.Kangoo sales - reaching for the summit
By the end of 2004, retail sales of the funky and versatile Kangoo had increased 51% on the previous year, so to capitalise on this success a new Kangoo Venture special edition was launched. The latest addition is now the best-selling model in the range, and sales are set to rise even further with the news that customer savings of up to £1,500 are now available to potential customers.
