The carbon footprint is the quantity of carbon emitted during each stage of its life cycle, from the extraction of the raw materials to the end of its life.
Part of the Renault 2016 - Drive the Change strategic plan is committing to cutting its carbon footprint by ten per cent between now and 2013 and another ten per cent between 2013 and 2016.
In the carbon ranking established by British NGO, Environmental Investment Organisation (EIO), Renault came out on top as the automotive company emitting the least CO2 in Europe. Renault was also awarded in the production category at the Sustainable Energy Awards for its plant in Tangiers.
