PowerTour will be one of the feature events on the 2001 calendar at Britain's newest motorsport venue, the Rockingham Motor Speedway, when round six of the British motorsport series is held at the new venue over the weekend of 9/10 June.

The six PowerTour championships, including the Green Flag British F3 and Privilege Insurance British GT Championships, will race on the International Car Course within the Rockingham complex, which incorporates the start-finish straight between the main grandstands, travelling in an anti-clockwise direction.

"Rockingham is going to be an exciting circuit, with superb viewing for the fans. We are very pleased that PowerTour will be one of the early visitors to the venue. It will be a new challenge for our teams and drivers," says Roger Etcell, BMP series director.

"We are delighted that our work in creating a top class facility has been reflected in winning one of Britain's premier motor racing events in our opening year. Rockingham is an outstanding venue with great views from every grandstand seat in an all-seater stadium. This ensures that everyone of our visitors will enjoy all the action that PowerTour brings," says David Grace, CEO of Rockingham Motor Speedway.

Castle Combe And Knockhill Get Green Light For PowerTour

Meanwhile, both the Castle Combe and Knockhill circuits have been fully confirmed on the PowerTour calendar. Both circuits were provisionally included on the calendar subject to the completion of circuit work this winter, all of which is now fully complete.

"The teams at Castle Combe and Knockhill have worked hard to meet all the requirements for PowerTour and I am delighted to confirm both venues within our tour dates. We now have unrivalled geographic coverage including nine counties, and really are taking the show to the people. I am confident that the PowerTour shows at these two new venues will be enormously popular," says Etcell. 2001 PowerTour Calendar
