The Porsche Cayenne has gained improvements, additions and new options and from June 2011, the Cayenne Diesel will receive a second generation engine, whcih offers greater efficiency and lower CO2 emisisons.

New Engine For The Porsche Cayenne Diesel

The three litre V6 Diesel engine in the Porsche Cayenne keeps the same bore and displacement but now delivers 245hp and increase of 5 hp. Fuel economy rises from 38.2 to 39mpg whilst CO2 emissions have dropped to 189g/km. Acceleration from 0-62mph has been improved by 0.2 seconds to 7.6 seconds and the top speed is now 137mph.

The efficiency improvements have been achieved through a package of measures, which includes new materials to help reduce weight and lower internal friction and resistance, as well as a new turbocharger, a revamp of the injection system and enhanced thermal management each of which make a contribution.

Modifications to the hybrid manager now offer the ability to drive and manoeuvre at low low speed on electric power alone from a cold start in the right conditions. Previously this was only possible once the operating temperature have been reached.

Porsche Cayenne Turbo Powerkit

A Powerkit is now available for the Porsche Cayenne Turbo, which boosts maximum power to 540 hp, up by 40 hp. Maximum torque increases by 50 Nm to 750 Nm. )-62 mph is improved to 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 176mph.

The Porsche Intelligent Performance philosophy ensures fuel consumption and emissions remain unchanged; with the optional Powerkit, the Porsche Cayenne returns 24.6mpg Combined and 270 g/km CO2.

The power increase is partly due to the two new turbo chargers featuring titanium-aluminium turbine wheels as well as adjustments to the engine electronics, resulting in perceptible improvements in engine response. Alongside the pwoer increase, the cooling of the brakes has been improved. Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) are available as an option which feature larger front brake discs, now 420mm in diameter. An optional 20 inch collapsible spare wheel is available for the vehciles equipped with this system.
