Porsche have revealed the new ‘Cayenne GTS’ replacing the V8 power plant with a 3.6-litre V6 bi-turbo. It will go on sale priced from £72,523 on the 19th November 2014, with the new entry level ‘Cayenne’ starting at £49,576.
The Cayenne GTS 3.6-litre V6 bi-turbo engine outputs 440 hp, an increase of 20 hp from its predecessor and torque climbs to 600 Nm, an 85Nm increase. This equates an improvement to 0-62 mph in 5.2 seconds (5.1 seconds with the Sport Chrono pack) and a top speed of 162 mph. Official combined fuel consumption has improved from 28.8 mpg to 26.7 mpg.
A sports exhaust system is standard along with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) damping system. It features the brakes from the Cayenne Turbo with 390 mm discs on the front axle (358 mm at the back) with the callipers finished in red. You can opt for air suspension which sees a ride height lower than 20mm than the standard Cayenne / 24mm lower with the standard steel springs.
The GTS is fitted with the Turbo nose with large air intakes and the Sport Design package comprising contoured side sills and wheel arch extensions colour coded to the main body colour. There are black 20-inch wheels in the RS Spyder design, black exhaust tailpipes and darkened LED rear lights. The interior is fitted with eight-way electrically adjustable GTS sports seats trimmed in leather/Alcantara upholstery, including ‘GTS’ lettering on the head restraints.
Porsche have introduced a new entry level model entitled simply ‘Cayenne’, sitting below the Cayenne S. It is powered by a petrol 3.6-litre V6 naturally aspirated engine outputting 300 hp. It can accelerate from 0-62 mph in 7.7 seconds (7.6 seconds with the Sport Chrono pack) and has a top speed of 143 mph. CO2 emissions are 215 g/km and the fuel consumption is recorded at 30.7 mpg on the official combined cycle.
