The new Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS all wheel drive features 3.8 litre flat six engine which produces 408hp at 7300rpm and builds on the success of the two wheel drive Carrera GTS, on sale since December 2010.
A Redesigned intake duct adds 23hp to power output and improves the torque curve in the lower and middle engine speed range. Overall, a peak torque figure of 420Nm is delivered across an engine speed range from 4200 - 5600 rpm, with 320Nm available at just 1500rpm.
An uprated sports exhaust system, complete with tailpipes in a distinctive black surface, produces a distinct sporty sound.
While the Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS features the same engine used in the two-wheel drive Carrera GTS, the four wheel drive features Porsche Traction Management (PTM) providing more driving stability, traction and handling.
The PTM directs optimal amounts of torque to the front wheels via a multiple-plate clutch. The electronically controlled all-wheel drive system is supported by a limited slip rear differential.
As standard, the Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS is fitted with a six speed manual transmission. The Coupe model gets from 0-62mph in 4.6 seconds, and the cabriolet reaches 62mph in 4.8 seconds. The optional seven speed double clutch transmissions - Porsche-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) - takes 0.2 seconds off the acceleration times.
Fuel economy for the Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS is the same as the 385hp 911 Carrera 4S model, thanks to Porsche Intelligent Performance. For example the Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS Coupe returns 26.9mpg on the combined cycle based in the New European Driving Cycle and CO2 emissions are 247g/km.
Rear track width has been increased, which is unique to all GTS models, with an additional reflective stripe between the tail lights. The doors and rear lid feature a designation.
The Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS feature 19 inch RS Spyder alloy wheels in black, with a central wheel bolt and gloss rims. The rear wheels feature 305/30 ZR 19 tyres.
On sale in July 2011, the Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS Coupe and Cabriolet are priced from £83,145 and £90,024 respectively.
