Peugeot retains third place in the UK, with sales growth and diesel domination.
In the UK, for July:
Peugeot sales were up by 9.8% over July 2001, in a growing market. Total sales for the month of 16,319 units kept Peugeot in third place overall, with an 8.34% market share.
Achieving over 7,300 sales, the Peugeot 206 was Peugeot’s best-selling car. It took 3.7% of total industry sales, and was second best-seller in the important retail segment.
Peugeot again underlined its dominance in the diesel market, taking 14.5% of all diesel sales, an increase on its 13.5% share in July 2001. The Peugeot 307 was the third best-seller in the diesel top ten, and was accompanied by the 406 and the 206.
In the Fleet market, Peugeot took fourth spot, with over 8% of all registrations in the market.
In the UK, for 2002 year-to-date:
Peugeot has maintained its number 3 position in the UK new car sales league, with 8.33% market share, behind Ford (in 1st) and Vauxhall (in 2nd).
Peugeot has increased its passenger car sales by 4.6% year-to-date, selling over 128,500 units, representing a growth of over 5,600 units on 2001.
In the growing retail market, the 206 is the top seller, and it is the number three best-seller overall for the year so far, with over 60,000 new 206s sold.
Peugeot again takes pole position in the diesel market, with 13.5% market share in 2002.
In the UK, for LCVs:
Peugeot achieved 17.4% growth in the LCV market in July, recording 1,446 sales and taking 7.2% share of the market.
Sales of the Peugeot Partner grew by 66% in July, compared with July 2001.
For 2002 so far, Peugeot’s position in the LCV market continues to improve with 11.4% growth – well ahead of the market’s 5.1% growth – giving Peugeot a 6.2% share of all sales.
Sales of the Peugeot Expert (up 30%) and Partner (up 19%) are very strong, with both vehicles showing a significant increase over sales during the same period in 2001.
Peugeot is still a leading figure in the Motor Home market, being responsible for over 30% of all registrations.
