Following in the footsteps of the legendary 205 range, the new 206 GTi HDi 110 takes more than a few cues from its older popular sibling the 205 D Turbo.
Based on the 206 GTi 2.0 litre petrol (138 bhp) model, the 206 GTi HDi 110 retains the great GTi specification such as 16" alloy wheels, ESP, CD auto-changer, part leather trim and aluminium pedals and gearknob.
Powered by PSA Peugeot Citroen’s new 1.6 HDi 110 diesel engine, which produces a maximum torque of 180 lb ft (more than the GTi 180), the model is also fitted with a particulate filter (first time on a B segment car). This engine is both "green" and refined and meets the stringent Euro IV emission standards. Using the latest common rail diesel injection system the engine also benefits from an "overboost" function, which provides a temporary torque increase of 8%, to provide extra performance when required.
Identified by a purposeful red "i" in the HDi badge fitted to the front wings this GTi has all the sporting credentials of a Peugeot GTi but with the low fuel consumption and emissions associated with a class leading diesel engine.
Front sports bumpers, front sports wings, front fog lights, a chrome exhaust and aluminium fuel cap and door sill protectors, all help to create that essential sporty look. Owning a 206 GTi HDi 110, however, will not burn a hole in the pocket of a prospective customer, as it is available on 4 years 0% finance – (with a 50% deposit) – as is the entire 206 GTi family.
