The Peugeot 307 XSi 2.0 is powered by a 1997cc, 16-valve engine which develops 138 bhp at 6,000 rpm enabling the 307 XSi 2.0 to accelerate from 0-62 mph in 9.2 seconds and continue to a top speed of 127 mph.
As you would expect of Peugeot the engine is quiet and refined returning 35.8 mpg on a combined cycle with CO2 emissions of 188 g/km. The 2.0 litre engine offers more than adequate power although you do have to work the 5-speed gearbox to maintain optimum performance.
The 307 is excellent to drive around town and it is equally at home on the Motorway and dual carriageway. The standard five-speed gearbox is superb offering precise and fluid gear changes. Road noise is slightly intrusive although not worrying and service intervals for petrol models are every 24 months or 20,000 miles. How It Drove - Ride and Handling
Peugeot have created an exceptionally stable car with superb driving dynamics. The ride can be a bit choppy on uneven road surfaces but overall the ride is reassuring and reasonably firm. The 307 is one of the biggest cars in its class and has a high seating position which is excellent for visibility but it can leave the driver feeling as though they are sat on the car rather than in it. The speed sensitive power steering is well-weighted and direct offering good feedback resulting in a rewarding driving experience.
The XSi 2.0 model is equipped as standard with ESP and ASR (electronic stability programme and traction control) which are designed to assist the driver in maintaining control during acceleration, cornering and avoidance manoeuvres. ABS (anti-lock braking system) with EBFD (electronic brake force distribution) and EBA (emergency brake assist) are also standard as are all round disc brakes ensuring that the Peugeot 307 brakes reassuringly well.
