Demag Delaval Puts Nissan On Patrol Down The Mines

Siemens Demag Delaval Turbomachinery Ltd, a subsidiary of Siemens Power Generation which sells a number of industrial products to a variety of customers, has renewed its contract with Nissan to provide 4 x 4 vehicles for use in open cast mines throughout the UK.

Currently the company looks after 13 Nissan Patrol GRs and one X-TRAIL that has just been delivered. As the existing vehicles need replacing, Siemens Demag Delaval has confirmed that they will be replaced with new Patrol GRs.

Siemens Demag Delaval supplies excavators to the mining industry. It is responsible for installing and maintaining this equipment on site, and it is vital that its engineers have reliable transportation which can easily take them off road to work within the demanding mine environment. The durable 158 PS Nissan Patrol GR, with its powerful 3.0-litre direct injection engine and ability to tackle the toughest imaginable terrain with total confidence is ideally suited to the job.

Brigitte Laghuwitz, Senior Administrator/Fleet Manager for Siemens Demag Delaval said that the company had decided to use Nissan 3-4 years ago after they experienced reliability problems with their previous supplier.

"We were impressed with Nissan’s approach and products from the start. They provided a demonstration vehicle for a three month trial at an open cast mine and Nissan representatives visited the mine to study the vehicle in its working environment. At the end of the trial period, the Nissan representatives were confident that the Patrol GRs would be robust enough to cope with the very harsh conditions of life in the mines, and that Nissan could work alongside us to provide the level of service and support we need.

"And that’s exactly what they have done. We made the right decision by choosing Nissan, and have been very happy with the vehicles and the service Nissan has given us, which convinced us to replace our existing Patrol GRs with new ones.

"The Nissan Patrol GR has proved better suited to our purpose and more reliable than the vehicles we used before, and we believe that the package Nissan offers is superior to those offered by other manufacturers."
