Gallaghers Mitsubishi, who already have franchises in Chester and Warrington, have recently acquired Ashley Smithy in Ashley, Cheshire. This existing Mitsubishi site will continue to cover an area South of Manchester.
Chris Variava of Nottingham and Leicester have just opened new premises in Derby. Their investment in Mitsubishi is soon to increase further with the commissioning of new and larger premises in Nottingham, which, when completed, will become one of the largest Mitsubishi showrooms in the UK.
SMC Mitsubishi have just added Erith, near Bexleyheath, to its current Sittingbourne, Hillingdon sites, the new premises are set to be fully operational late Summer.
Court & Smith are also following the trend of expansion, by opening a new Mitsubishi dealership in Worthing in September, adding to their existing Southern locations in Brighton and Woking.
Jim Tyrrell, Managing Director for Mitsubishi Motors UK, sees this growth within the dealer network as a significant signal:
"The investment being made by these four existing dealers confirms confidence in the brand. This pattern of expansion shows a healthy and promising outlook for the future sales of Mitsubishi vehicles in the UK."
These new sites bring the number of Mitsubishi dealers in Britain up to 130 - the highest for ten years. However, the UK importer is aiming to appoint a further 11 sites in 2002 and establish a total of 140 locations by the end of the year.
