Mitsubishi Motors in the UK has posted an all-time new vehicle sales record of 2,347 for the month of April, up 18% on 2002. Year to date sales figures of 10,661 vehicles also resulted in an 18% increase on the same period last year. Set against a general industry decline of –7% for April and –2.6% year to date, Mitsubishi Motors in the UK not only continues to defy the market but is now the biggest growth market for the brand in Europe.
Sales have continued strongly across the range throughout 2003 with exceptional results shown by Carisma, up 32%, and L200 up a massive 52% year to date.
So far this year, 4,360 L200 models have been sold to UK consumers giving Mitsubishi a 48% share of the segment. The inclusion of high specification lifestyle variants such as the L200 ‘Animal’ and ‘Warrior’ has meant that a whole new audience has woken up to the benefits of owning and driving Pick Up vehicles. Currently over 80% of all Mitsubishi L200 Pick Ups purchased are either 4Life, Animal or Warrior specification.
Carisma continues to sell well, as a combination of competitive pricing and good value consumer offers attracts customers. Starting at only £9,995 for the 1.6 Mirage, the Carisma is currently one of the best value family cars on the market.
