With a range of vehicles, particularly 4x4’s, well suited to the leisure and lifestyle market sectors, Mitsubishi will again be exhibiting and supporting the National Boat, Caravan and Leisure show being held from 15 February at the NEC in Birmingham.
Mitsubishi will be supporting the whole show by sponsoring the two-wheel action in the form of the Cycle Camp. Visitors can check on their all terrain skills by riding around purpose built assault courses, which includes wet and dry surfaces. The centrepiece of this attraction is a display area where the Mitsubishi Animal Cycle Display Team will be performing.
However back to four wheel drive and on the Mitsubishi stand will be the latest on and off road models. With over 60% of its UK sales accounted for by 4x4 vehicles, Mitsubishi has a model for every caravan, camping or boating enthusiast.
Number one selling pick up in the UK and Pick Up of the Year is the Mitsubishi L200 range. Since double cab pick up models started to become popular three years ago, the L200 tops the UK sales chart accounting for 40% of purchases. These vehicles appeal to a huge range of customers. From the business user attracted by the image, to the recreational customer who needs four wheel drive performance with load/passenger carrying flexibility and towing capabilities, to the customer who needs to combine work and pleasure with one all purpose vehicle. One of the new features of the 2003 range is that all L200 variants now have service intervals of 9,000 miles. Representing the range will be the L200 2.5 TD 4WD Warrior Double Cab priced at £17,995 CVOTR.
A firm favourite with caravanners is the Mitsubishi Shogun now in its third generation. The latest 2003 models have undergone major revisions to the model line up with added value specification changes and petrol models for the same price as diesel variants. On display will be the new Shogun 3.2 DI-D Equippe Automatic LWB priced at £31,495 OTR.
Mitsubishi’s mid ranged 4x4 is the all purpose Shogun Sport. Available with either 2.5 low emission turbocharged diesel engine or V6 petrol unit, the Sport seats five in luxury with luggage or load carrying space to match. Uncompromising value for money the Shogun Sport range is represented at the show by the 2.5 TD Equippe with manual transmission priced at £21,995 OTR. All diesel powered Shogun Sport models from January 2003 onwards have their service intervals increased to every 9,000 miles.
Size matters when caravanning, boating or being leisurely. So in addition to large, executive, tough, workhorse, and sports 4x4’s Mitsubishi produce the chic, nimble, cute Shogun Pinin. However looks and size disguise the true nature of this Shogun. As with all Mitsubishi 4x4’s the Shogun Pinin is a proper 4x4 and extremely agile because of its power to weight ratio on and off road. On the stand will be the Shogun Pinin 2.0 litre GDI Equippe 5-door priced at £15,995. On display in the Cycle Camp arena will be the new Shogun Pinin 1.8 Attivo II 3-door priced at just £12,995.
