Mitsubishi Colt

Mitsubishi Motors UK has continued its strong business performance posting an 8% sales increase for the month of March and a 13% increase for the year compared to first quarter of 2005. In a market that declined 5.1% on the month and 7.2% on the year, Mitsubishi’s network of 144 dealers has attracted new customers to the brand achieving 11,274 new vehicle sales compared to 9,958 over the same period last year.

The introduction of the Colt 3-door to Mitsubishi’s supermini range has resulted in a massive increase in Colt sales, which rose to 1,535 in March. Introduced in September 2004, the Colt 5-door is really starting make its mark in the sector with dealers all recording a significant rise in enquiries and sales conversions. In March, sales were split between the Colt 5-door and 3-door 60:40 respectively.

Launched in January this year, Mitsubishi’s new Lancer is also exceeding expectations with the first consignment of four door saloon variants selling out within eight weeks. The combination of value for money and Japanese quality and reliability has proved a hit with customers resulting in the dealer network achieving 753 sales, 110% of its total Lancer sales target for the quarter.

The Lancer Evolution VIII range continues to fly with 380 units sold so far this year, up 95% on the same period last year. Also continuing to increase its presence in the market is the Grandis MPV, notching up 355 sales year to date and already commanding 19% of the petrol MPV segment.

With strong consumer offers available for the second quarter of the year across the vehicle range, Mitsubishi Motors looks set to continue its record breaking run and post a fifth successive year of significant growth.
