The Mitsubishi i-MiEV which first launched in Japan in July 2009, was the first pure-electric vehicle (EV) available to world markets in regular series production from a major manufacturer. The i-MiEV is a revolution and the pinnacle of Mitsubishi's "Intelligent Motion" sub-brand - aiming to become a world leader in the reduction of CO2 emissions on a global scale.
After decades of experimentation, innovation and trials, the future of motoring is here and consumers can purchase a Mitsubishi i-MiEV from one of Mitsubishi's thirteen national EV Sales Centres in the UK. The Mitsubishi i-MiEV provides all the sophistication and modernity you would expect from a 21st century vehicle, but surpasses its old-technology rivals, offering zero CO2 emissions and making it the perfect urban car for the modern world.
Out of the three available pure EVs produced from the Mitsubishi production line (the other two being identical vehicles re-badged by Peugeot and Citroen), Mitsubishi is the only manufacturer to offer outright purchase and contract hire / personal finance options.
After the government's Plug-In Car Grant (P-ICG) of £5,000, the outright purchase price of the Mitsubishi i-MiEV is £23,990. As well as consumers being able to purchase outright, Mitsubishi Contract Motoring offers a competitive finance package on a non-maintained contract hire basis over a 48 month period for £399 per month.

The ultra-low running costs of the Mitsubishi i-MiEV are also a key advantage over other cars, with additional incentives including 'fuelling' for as little as £1.05 per full charge (if using Economy 7 tariff), low servicing costs and downtime. Customers are also rewarded for purchasing a Mitsubishi i-MiEV as the vehicle is exempt from road tax, is free from the London Congestion Charge and is entitled to free parking in some London Boroughs and other cities such as Milton Keynes and Edinburgh.
Independent advisors CAP have predicted the Mitsubishi i-MiEV will retain 43% of its on the road price after the £5,000 government incentive P-ICG and after three years and 30,000 miles which is better than most combustion engine rivals.
The Mitsubishi i-MiEV comes fitted as standard with a full compliment of safety systems to help prevent and reduce the effect of any impact. In recognition of its on-board safety features, the Mitsubishi i-MiEV has become the first electric vehicle to be crash-tested by the renowned Euro NCAP organisation: a milestone further enhanced by a 4-star rating under NCAP's new and highly stringent protocols.
