The Heritage Motor Centre in Warwickshire is the home of the First MINI where a special MINI event to celebrate the Life of MINI takes place on Sunday 2nd October. The Centre in Gaydon, Warwickshire has the largest collection of British historic cars and has an enviable collection of classic MINIs on public display, including the 1960's Monte Carlo rally cars, prototypes and concept cars.

This year commemorates the Centenary of the Austin marque and the Longbridge factory where the MINI was designed. On 30 September, the Heritage Motor Centre will be opening a special exhibition about Sir Alec Issigonis, the mastermind behind the design of the MINI, which became an icon. This will feature some rare 9X MINI prototypes not usually on display. The Chief Archivist at the Centre, Gillian Bardsley has recently written a new biography about Issigonis. She will be available to sign copies of her new book for purchasers in the gift shop and discuss her findings on the world-renowned car designer.

This is a unique event where visitors will be able to relive the Life of MINI, with a magnificent selection of indoor displays, where stallholders will be selling a range of merchandise, car crafts and memorabilia. There will be a host of outdoor activities for all the family during the day, including an amazing 'carobatic' display by Russ Swift, who will be giving a public performance of a variety of daredevil stunts in the main arena at 12 pm and 3 pm. Children and adults can also enjoy a drive on the purpose-built outdoor go-kart track and off-road rides on the Land Rover Experience.

If you have a MINI or just like MINIs, classic or new, make sure you don't miss this event, which starts at 10 am. MINI car club members can apply for FREE entry to this event through their clubs; other MINI drivers pay £5. Otherwise normal charges apply: £8 adults, £7 concessions, £6 children (5-16 yrs), under fives free, family tickets (2 adults + 3 children) £25. Heritage Motor Centre enquiries log on to
